Sarekoppa Bangarappa (26 October 1932 – 26 December 2011)(ಸಾರೆಕೊಪ್ಪ ಬಂಗಾರಪ್ಪ) was an Indian politician and a former Chief Minister of Karnataka. He represented Shimoga constituency in the 14th Lok Sabha. He belonged to the Janata Dal (S).[1][2][3] He is the founder of the Karnataka Vikas Party and Karnataka Congress Party.

He was born on 26 October 1932 in Kubatur village of Shimoga District in Karnataka, India. His father was the late Kallappa and his mother, Kallamma. He was married on 1 January 1958 to Shakuntala. He has two sons, Kumar Bangarappa and Madhu Bangarappa, and three daughters, Sujatha, Geetha and Anitha..
He has a bachelors degree in arts and law. He also has a Diploma in Social Science.[4]
Bangarappa died on 26 December 2011 at 12:40 am at Mallya Hospital in Bangalore due to kidney failure.[5] He was cremated on 27 December 2011 with full Government honours, after his body had been brought in a procession from his house through, Anavatti, Kuppegudde, and Tavanand before reaching Soraba for the ceremony. The mourners included the Chief Minister, Sadananda Gauda, the head of the state's BJP party, Eshwarappa, and the actor, Shivaraj Kumar.
Three days' State mourning was declared by the Government of Karnataka in honor of Bangarappa.
